Funeral services for Seth Maurice Ford, 92, of Tyler are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Burks Walker Tippit chapel with Dr. Stuart Baskin and Rev. Montie Stewart officiating. Entombment will be in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors of Tyler

Mr. Ford passed away Aug. 1, 2007, surrounded by his family in the loving care of Hospice of East Texas HomePlace in Tyler

He was born in Santa Anna on Jan. 28, 1915, to John Earnest Ford and Minnie Lee Gasaway.

On March 31, 1934, he married Mary Catherine Rollins, his childhood sweetheart. They celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary earlier this year.

Mr. Ford graduated from Texas A&M University in 1938, and received his Master's degree from Texas A&M University in 1948 in Agricultural Education.

He was a veteran of World War II and came to Tyler in 1946. He was Vocational Ag teacher at Tyler High and was instrumental in starting the school farm at Camp Tyler. In 1950, he became associated with Brookshire & Johnston Farm Supply. In 1956, he built Ford Milling Co. He was a director of the original Heritage National Bank. He was involved in many business and civic activities of the Tyler community,

Mr. Ford was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Tyler for 61 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Catherine Ford; two daughters, Mary "Jeanene" Montgomery and Rebecca Maurice Ford; and grandson. Timothy Andrew Lever.

Survivors include daughter, Elsie Ford of Seattle, Wash.; son, Burt R. Ford and wife Paula of Tyler; sister, Mary Lee Fields of Dallas; and niece, Judy Stewart and husband Montie of Stephenville, and several other nieces and nephews. Mr. Ford had 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Trent Ford, Jason Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Richie Moss, Charles Reid and Jim Noe.

Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, Trent Ford, Jason Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Brian Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Indiana Wildhorse, John Lever and Nathen Lever.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 2, 2007, at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church; Hospice of East Texas HomePlace; Salvation Army; or East Texas Food Bank.
