The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2:00 p. m. in the sanctuary of the St. Mark Baptist Church in Vienna, Georgia.
The burial, with military honors, will follow at the Pleasant Valley Church Cemetery in Pinehurst, Georgia.
Asia Africana Smith was born on July 28, 1976 to the parentage of Joe Ann Gaston Smith and Andrew Smith.
On Wednesday, October 4, 2017, Asia departed this life. She slipped away from her family while in College Park, Georgia. She peacefully entered into eternal rest; the rest that God has promised to us all.
Asia accepted Jesus Christ, the Lord, in her life at a very early age when she joined the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Pinehurst, Georgia.
She graduated from Dooly County High School in 1994. She went on to attend Middle Georgia University in Eastman, Georgia. She enlisted in the United States Air Force and served her country well. After four years of service, Asia received an honorable discharge. Further studying was done at Saint Leo College in Morrow, Georgia where she graduated with honors and earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
Asia had been employed as a Disability/Pension Claims Agent for disabled veterans. Her most recent employment had been with the United Postal Service. She was a dedicated employee until her retirement in 2015. Asia willingly served God and others.
