Celebration of Life
Wilbert "Buddy" Lumley
Monday, March 9th from 5-7 pm
Trinity Assembly of God
200 Urick St
Fruitland Park, Fl 34731
5pm will be open visitation
6pm service will begin

Everyone is welcome to come to his very casual celebration of life. Jeans are perfect, no black required as this is a "celebration" of his heavenly home going. He was just a Georgia good ole boy. One of the last things he told me was "Deborah make sure I have some blue jeans for when I go home" So...Just the way he would have wanted it. Please share this with anyone that I may not have contacts for.

There will be no viewing as he chose cremation. We will have another service for our Georgia family the weekend of March 20th (still working on details) and his ashes will be taken there to Oak Park, Georgia to be with those that have gone before him and, of course, the Ohoopee River, his favorite place to fish there.

Wilbert "Buddy" Lumley of Fruitland Park , Florida passed away peacefully at his home on February 22, 2020.

Buddy was born October 3, 1944 to Paul and Velma Lumley in Oak Park, Georgia. He graduated from Oak Park High School in 1963. He then served in the U.S Army from 1965-1967.

In 1969 he married Sarah "Suzie" Anderson in Folkston; they divorced in 2004, but continued a friendship. They had two daughters, Deborah and Jennifer.

Buddy worked in the agriculture industry his whole career. His passion was bass fishing; he fished many tournaments on the Chain of Lakes, as well as throughout the state. He could catch a fish in any body of water when no one else could. He was known as a "bass whisperer" in his prime. He also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, and had some of the best gardens here and in Georgia.

He is survived by his former wife, Suzie Lumley; their daughters, Debbie "Lumley" Hayes (her husband Daniel), Jennifer "Lumley" Wills; his six grandchildren, Joshua (Crystal) Hayes, Jacob (Kinsley) Hayes, Jonathan Hayes, Autumn Millar, Josie Millar, Lexie Wills; his twin sister, Wilda Braddy; his beloved companion dog, Anna, that he loved very much, and many more loving family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, March 9th, 5-7 pm at Trinity Assembly of God 220 Urick St, Fruitland Park, Fl 34731. Pastor Chuck Padgett will be officiating. Visitation will be 5-6 pm and service will begin at 6 pm. Another Celebration of Life will be held March 21, 2020 at United Fellowship Baptist Church in Oak Park, Georgia at 2pm. Pastor Don Carroll will be officiating. Following this service, his ashes will be scattered there in his hometown and in the Ohoopee River.
