Mrs. Ida Mae Hanks Harris, 75, a resident of Newton, died Tuesday afternoon, February 25, 2020, at her home. Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be 2:30 P.M. Friday, February 28, 2020, from Bethel Baptist Church in Newton with Reverend Mike Griggs and Reverend Bennie Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends Friday in the church from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Mrs. Harris was born May 16, 1944 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Levy S. Hanks and Callie Rebecca Senn Hanks. She grew up in the Newton area and lived in various places while her husband served in the United States Navy. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Dewayne Bostwick; two sisters, Dorothy Herring and Christine Williams; and one brother, Harvey Hanks. Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Richard Wayne Harris of Newton; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey L. and Jennifer Bostwick of Midland City; one grandson, Jonathan S. Bostwick of Midland City; one brother and sister-in-law, Shellie and Anita Hanks of Newton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
