She was born Sept. 9, 1931, in Shamokin Dam, a daughter of the late George W. and Carrie (Shaffer) Slear. Nancy wed Donald L. Burns on Feb. 7, 1953, and they were united until his death in 2011.
Nancy was a 1949 graduate of Selinsgrove Area High School.
She retired after many years in food service at Biff-Burger and Burger King restaurants.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Sunbury.
Nancy enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, working outdoors, completing puzzles, reading and reminiscing with friends and family. A keeper of the family histories, an untold number of photographs and artifacts document her life with her family throughout the generations.
She is survived by a sister June of Virgina; one son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Jewel, of Pen Argyl, Pa.; one grandson, Aaron Burns of Sunbury; two granddaughters, Haley Burns of Philadelphia and Dr. Elizabeth Burns of Scranton; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by one son, David; three brothers, Dale, Carson and G. William; and two sisters, Eleanor and Shirley.
A visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by a celebration of life at 11.
Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam.
