Diane's early years took place in North Dakota. After marrying Walter they lived in South Dakota where Walter began work in the airline industry allowing them to travel and fly places. Diane endured a battle with cancer at the Mayo Clinic as a young mother. She won that battle and they moved to Minnesota to raise their family. In 1971 they moved again to southern California where Diane enjoyed the sunny warm climate. For several years she had the opportunity to take care of large tortoises thus began her interest and collection of turtles.

Diane always had a strong belief in God and remained involved with her church family wherever she lived. Seven years ago Diane and her son Wayne made the move to Colorado Springs where she enjoyed being near her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
