She was born on June 7, 1938, in Caddo, Oklahoma, to the late Melvin J.R. Boatman and Frances Blakney Boatman. She was a homemaker taking care of her home and raising her children. Joyce loved to play bingo and was a very outgoing person who would go to the store and spend time visiting with whoever she met while she was there.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Sue Lane; and brother, Melvin Boatman.
Survivors include her sons: Johnny Watkins and his wife, Penny, of Tyler, Melvin Watkins, of China Springs, Gary Watkins and his wife, Sharon, of Franklin, and George Page and his wife, Joy, of Haughton, LA; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; sisters, Linda Preston and Carol Owens, of Corsicana; sister-in-law, Margie Boatman, of Waxahachie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
