Gary William “Mudhog” Potts of the Ico Community, near Sheridan, was born May 17, 1957 at Little Rock, the son of William Eugene “Bull” Potts and Nancy Ruth Crabtrey Potts. He was a self-employed roofer for over 20 years; was a member of several hunting clubs for many years and loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family.

Gary went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at U.A.M.S. Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 52. He was preceded in death by a sister, Cathy Mae Potts; a brother, Lilburn Eugene “Gene” Potts and an aunt, Brenda Faye Bishop Potts.

Survivors include his wife and best friend of 31 years, 3 months and 13 days, Sherry Ann Gottfried Potts of Ico; two daughters, Kristi Sheree Potts Heavner and Son-in-law Jeremy Derek Heavner of East End and Misti Ann Potts Jenkins and son-in-law, James Michael Jenkins of Ico; two granddaughters, Hailie Ann Heavner and Brittney Diane Heavner, both of East End; one grandson, Jaden Michael Jenkins of Ico; Parents, William “Bull” Potts and Nancy Crabtrey Potts of East End; Sister, Bonnie Stratton and husband Jerry of Sheridan; Brother, Ricky Alton Potts and wife Gayle of East End; Two very special uncles, Raymond Wayne Potts and Roy Leon Potts both of Lonoke; Sister-in-law, Brenda Jean Elder Potts of East End and numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at East Union Baptist Church in East End with Bro. James “Jim” Gottfried and Bro. Paul Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Ico. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Jeremy Heavner, James Jenkins, Brad Williams, Ricky “Jr.” Davis, Robert Dover, Brandon Stratton, Michael Stratton, Clark Dodd and Chris Lee. Honorary Pallbearers: Hailie Heavner, Brittney Heavner, Jaden Jenkins and Shermon Froman. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Virginia 22312.
