First Lieutenant William Allison was one of two officers of the 13th Pennsylvania Reserves to be slain on the fields of the Battle of Antietam in September 1862. Allison was a line officer in Company B, of the latter stated regiment; also referred to as the 42nd Pennsylvania Volunteers or 1st Pa. Rifles.
