On Monday, November 4, 1968, God blessed the late Lynwood Holmes II and Doris (Andrew) Daniel with their 9th bundle of joy, Dwayne Darrell Holmes. He was raised in Americus, Georgia and attended Americus High School. He earned certification in Electrical Engineering and later he received his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) from South Georgia Technical College. He was a passionate and committed truck driver for over 20 years, also serving as a mentor to numerous new and existing truckers within the transportation industry. Dwayne was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a kind soul, full of love, generosity and never encountered a stranger. Dwayne was a giver therefore he gave unselfishly to everyone he met and the word “No” was unspoken. The role that he played in the lives of his nieces and nephews was very impactful, whether it was voluntarily driving them to school, teaching them to independently drive themselves or participating in games that required him to run and think at the same time. For his family and friends, he had an enormous amount of unconditional love. Dwayne’s presence and inviting personality electrified any room he entered igniting laughter and joy. Rest assured, heaven has definitely gained an Angel.
