Sister Carol Faye Cooper was born January 13, 1945, to the late Emma Rene Dismuke and Edward Alexander in Hot Springs. She was raised by her loving great-aunt, the late Rena Dismuke, who she called momma. Carol joined St. John Baptist Church at an early age.

Carol was united in marriage with the late Manuel Smith. To this union three children were born. Later in life, she was united in marriage to the late Eddie B. Cooper. To this union one child was born.

Ms. Cooper was a hard worker throughout her life. She worked in many fields of employment from cleaning homes, helping in a doctor’s office, the upholstery industry, fuel cell building, and helping others at the Adult Education Center where she earned her GED.

Ms. Carol was affectionately known as “Big Big” and “Suga Momma” to close family and friends. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was a fighter to the very end.

She departed this earthly journey at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2020 Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memories with four children, Allawayne Sanders and Evelyn Moore, both of Little Rock, and Gwendolyn Hardwell (Terry) and Bobby Smith Sr. all of Waldo; six grandchildren, LaKecia Sanders (Floyd), Rodney Cooper (Brooke) all of Little Rock, Sasha Smith of Dallas, Bobby Smith Jr. of Magnolia, and Ro’Kevia Cooper of Conway; two great grandchildren, Jo’Ayesezia Avila-Mendoza (Bernardino) and Ke’Ziyah Sanders, both of Little Rock; special stepchildren, Robert Cooper of Omaha, NE, Regina Henderson of Waldo, Sharon Dennis (Robert) of Atlanta and Jackie McKinney (Sterling) of Oklahoma City; one aunt, Betty Dismuke; three uncles, Raymond Dismuke of Waldo, and Joe Dismuke and Jake Dismuke Jr., both of Dallas; loving cousin, Juanita Ellis of Lufkin; lifelong friends, Mildred Henderson of Waldo and Bertha Jackson of Magnolia; along with a host of cousins and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 29, 2020, at R.L. Reed Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Waldo under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral, LLC.

Pastor Joyce Easter will officiate.

Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Friday, February 28, at R.L. Reed Funeral Home of Magnolia.
