Glenda Arlene Thompson, 67, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 29, 2020, in Hollister, Missouri, after an extended illness. A celebration of life will take place at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Grace Community Assembly in Branson, Missouri. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
Glenda was born June 7, 1952, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Lamar, Colorado, to Harl and Fern Davis.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, Brady and Stacie Thompson of Branson, Chris and Laura Thompson of Waxahachie, Texas, and Derek and Jamie Thompson of Columbia, Missouri; five grandchildren, Graham, Duncan, Asher, Darcy and Lola; her brother, Kenneth and Charyle LeAnne Davis of Lamar; her sister, Debby and Rick Pyatt of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and her ex-husband, William Thompson of Pueblo, Colorado.
She graduated from Lamar High School in 1970, where she was active in band and was a member of the first class of the Noteables choir group. Glenda attended Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, Lamar Community College and the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, majoring in English education.
Glenda was active in church throughout her life. She was a member of the Assemblies of God in Colorado, and served the church in many ways, including as piano accompanist, Sunday school teacher and youth group leader.
Glenda was well known in southeast Colorado. She was the co-owner of Davis Western Store in Lamar for 23 years. As she raised her three sons, Glenda sold Home Interiors and Gifts for 18 years in Lamar and the surrounding area. She was honored nationally by the company in 2000 for her high level of sales.
Glenda also had extensive banking experience, working at several banks in Greeley, Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo and Lamar. In 2009, Glenda became an insurance agent with UnitedHealthcare’s Medicare division. She was named Most Valuable Producer for Southern Colorado in 2017 and received numerous additional honors.
Glenda spent her life in Colorado before moving to Branson in June 2018, where she gained many friends through the Branson meetup group.
Glenda was very musically talented and began piano lessons at age 5. She also enjoyed playing the clarinet, accordion, keyboard and organ.
The Lord granted her the greatest desire of her heart. Her three sons and their wives are serving the Lord Jesus Christ.
