Deacon Johnnie Bryant, Sr. of Albany, Georgia died Monday, August 27, 2018 at Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11:00 A. M. in the sanctuary of the Macedonia Baptist Church, Drayton Community, Vienna, Georgia.

The burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery.

On June 6, 1940, the union of the late Deacon Henderson Bryant, Sr. and the late Mrs. Alice King Bryant was blessed with the birth of a son. He was named Johnnie.

Johnnie was educated in the public schools of Dooly County. Upon the completion of high school, he attended Savannah State College, Savannah, Georgia where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree. He later earned his Masters degree from Florida A & M University, Tallahassee, Florida. He was also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Deacon Bryant was a lifelong member of Macedonia Baptist Church. His love for Macedonia was always evident. An ordained Deacon, he never waivered in his commitment to serve the Lord and worship at Macedonia.

A gifted educator, he gave tirelessly of himself to cultivating the minds of his students at Monroe Comprehensive High School, Albany, Georgia. Not only was he a wonderful and encouraging teacher, he was admired by his fellow educators as well. He was named Monroe’s 1981-82 Teacher of the Year.

On September 24, 1966, Johnnie married the former Miss Gloria Jean Sampson. They lovingly called one another “Baby Do.” Johnnie will be remembered as a humble man, who possessed a huge heart. He loved his family and extended family unconditionally. He possessed a special way of making everyone feel important.

On Monday, August 27, 2018, the final passage of his earthly journey was penned.
