Perry was born September 13, 1943 in Shortts Gap, Virginia and was the son of the late Charlie Hubbard Davis and Grace Virginia Phillips Davis. Perry was well known for hosting a television and radio program Pilgrims of the Cross, where he enjoyed singing and playing his instruments, giving all the glory to God. He wore many hats of trade, retired coal miner from Jewell Smokeless, EMS worker and ambulance driver, basically he was a jack of all trades. Perry was well known for his contagious smile and laughter, and his outgoing personality. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a proud member of the UMWA Local #2148 and was a lifetime member of the Richlands Rescue Squad and a lifetime resident of the area.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol Ann Mullins Blevins Davis; an infant sister and his other siblings and their spouses, Ruby Browning and husband, Clyde; Betty Tabor and husband, Glen, Dot Griffith and husband, Raymond; Ted Davis and wife, Naomi; Curtis Davis and wife, Effie, Carl Davis and 1st wife, Geraldine; Johnny Davis.

Funeral service for Perry Jay Davis will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Buddy Herald, Rev. Tim Lester, Rev. Clarence Lowe and Rev. Dennis Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Pallbearers will be, Jake Kincaid, Tyler Hayes, Jeremy Huff, Joe Hayes, Bob Walk, Tanner Hubbard, Jeff Casey and Mike Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Mark Handy, Members of the Richlands Fire and Rescue and Annie Stevens. The UMWA Chaplin Corps will conduct services prior to the service on Tuesday. The family will begin receiving friends at 6:00 pm at the funeral home Monday evening until 9:00 pm.
