Born on May 30, 1947, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Robert L. Sims, Sr. and the late Evelyn Idell Hanna Sims. Mr. Sims was a member of North Hampton Baptist Church and retired from International Paper Company after more than 40 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding horses.
Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; two children, Rhonda R. Sims (Tony Roberts) of Pawleys Island and Ronald G. "Gil" Sims, Jr. of Georgetown; one brother, Robert L. Sims, Jr. (Kathy) of Georgetown; two sisters, Jimmie Faye Cannon and Runell Johnson both of Georgetown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara J. Ackerman; and three brothers in law, Dewitt Ackerman and Billy Cannon and Frankie Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at North Hampton Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery,
