John P. "Skip" Darr, age 83, of Manchester Presbyterian Lodge, formerly of Fairview, died Friday, April 13, 2012. Born in Corrigansville, MD, on April 21, 1928, he was a son of the late Augustus T. and Delphina Leatherman Darr. Skip attended Penn State Behrend College and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was the owner and operator of Darr Industries, Inc. in Fairview. He was past president of Elk Valley Rotary and a member of the National Tooling and Machining Association, the Society of Plastic Engineers and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by a son, Richard A. Darr, and a brother, Ray T. Darr. He is survived by two daughters: Bonnie L. Liebel of Lake City, and Jill Palmer and her husband, Gary, of Byron, IL; two sons: John D. Darr and his wife, Kathy, of Girard, and William R. Darr of Erie; his former wife, Marilyn A. Darr of Girard. Skip was also survived by four grandchildren: Edmund Liebel, Jesse Palmer, Matthew Liebel and Melodie Liebel along with three great grandchild.
