Nila was the daughter of Reese and Doris Housley. She graduated from Ben Lomond High School in Ogden, Utah, in 1961.

Nila served an LDS Mission to Canada. She later worked as a barber before meeting the love of her life, Thomas Butterfield. In marrying Tom, she gained two wonderful daughters. She and Tom went on to have three more children. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple.

Nila was born to be a mother and grandmother. She loved to be with people, was the best sister ever, and each niece and nephew knew they were her favorite. Her children's friends adored her, considering her a second mom.

Nila worked as a school lunch cook for many years. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She and Tom together moved to Chancellor Gardens in Clearfield in 2018, and they quickly made it their new home. They loved their caregivers and friends they made there.

At the time of her passing, Nila was survived by her husband, Thomas, four daughters and their partners, one daughter-in-law, 15 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as one brother, two sisters, and numerous friends and neighbors who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Troy Butterfield, and brother Kevin Housley.

Please note that I am not family. Nila was a fellow Ben Lomonder. I will gladly transfer to family upon request, and offer my deepest sympathies.
