James A. Adams, 66, of Eolia, died October 11 in Grundy, Va.
A son of the late Dallas and Mary Rutherford Adams, he was a brother of the late Bobby Adams, Dallas Adams Jr., Ronnie Adams, Charles Lester Adams, Dewey Adams, Loretta Hall, Mary Lynn Stevens, Lois Brock and Janet Boggs.
A member of the United Mine Workers of America, he had worked for 20 years as a coal miner.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Mary Eldridge Adams; a son, James Anthony Adams and wife Valerie of Grundy, Va.; a daughter, Jessica Rasnake and husband Christopher of Thomasville, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Shasta, Shane, Brian, Kenneth, Xavier, Brycen, Logan, Tayleigh and Serenity; two sisters, Phyllis Eldridge and husband Bobby of Eolia, and [daughter] Karen Stypes [Karen Stipes] and husband Jimmy of Coeburn, Va.; two brothers, Tommy Adams and wife Jean, and Roy Adams and wife Betty, all of Eolia; two sisters-in-law, Ruby Adams of Eolia and Ola Lee Adams of Thornton; and a brother-in-law, Henderson Brock of Eolia.
Funeral services for Mr. Adams were held October 13 at the Millstone Primitive Baptist Church. Graveside services were held October 14 in the Adams Cemetery in Eolia.
