George L. Miller, age 91, of Dublin, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 21, 2020.

Services for Mr. Miller will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 11:00AM at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. James Hughes and Lock Wilford will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until funeral hour on Monday at the church.

Mr. Miller was born in Rockledge, GA on December 26, 1928 to the late John Tiger Miller and the late Virginia Wood Miller. He served in the United States Army and was a Master Sergeant during the Korean War. In 1953, he joined the Georgia National Guard and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1956. Mr. Miller retired from the Veteran’s Administration where he worked as Assistant Chief Administrator over the Medical Division for the Carl Vinson VA Hospital in Dublin, GA. He was very proud to be the first to hire an African American woman to be his private secretary.

After he retired, George sold cars for 20 years. He served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church. His hobbies were gardening, fishing, and church activities including various church outreach programs. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Cornelia Johnson, Edison Miller, C.W. Miller, Leon Miller, Reba Dean, and Annie Scott.

He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 69 years, four children, nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
