Kent Marshall Boyd, Sr., age 93, of Brandenburg, KY, passed away at his home on Friday, February 21, 2020 with his family by his side.Kent was born May 2, 1926 in Alderson, WV, son of the late Ernest and Flakie Neal Boyd.

His brother, Eugene Boyd, also preceded him in death.

Kent was a proud veteran of the US Army serving in both World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the Olin Chemical Company and served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and choir member at the First Baptist Church in Brandenburg. Kent was also a former Moderator for the Salem Association of Baptists.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 67 years, Frankie Jewell Smith Boyd; three children: Susan Boyd Mahmoud, Kent Marshall (Brenda) Boyd, Jr. of Bardstown, KY, and Steven (Gerri) Boyd of Simpsonville, KY; nephews: Robert B. Smith and Danny E. Boyd; nieces, Myrna B. Dembowski and Cindy Ruby; grandchildren: Justin O. Boyd, Ashley Boyd Pierce, Sarah H. Mahmoud, and Hannah Boyd; great-granddaughter, Harper Boyd.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 24, 2020 at 11:00 AM EST at the First Baptist Church in Brandenburg with Pastor Steven Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the New Highland Baptist Church Cemetery.
