Hazel Irene Lewis Carter, age 90, of Sherwood passed away February 20, 2020 at her home. She was
born in Lawrenceville, Illinois April 17, 1929 to Albert and Violet Lewis. Preceding her in death was her husband of 53 years, Leonard, and two brothers, Harry and Floyd Lewis. She was a member of Sylvan Hills United Methodist Church and retired from Southwestern Bell with 30 years’ service.
She is survived by three daughters and one brother; Vickie (Ted) Bajorek, Bobbye (Ray) Smith, Lynn
(David) Boyd; three grandchildren, Francie (Ben) Escovedo, Bill (Angie) Tibbett, Beth (Josh) Graham; five
great grandchildren, Chloe Tibbett, Garrett and Gabe Escovedo, Kate Nilles and Karr Graham; her brother Lloyd (Ann) Lewis and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
She loved cooking, flowers, keeping in touch with relatives all over the world and researching genealogy for the family. The most important thing to her was her family and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 23 at Smith Funeral Home, 7700 Hwy. 107, Sherwood, Arkansas from 2 – 4:00 pm. A service will be held Monday, February 24th at Kernodle Funeral Home, 315-325 E.
Union Ave., Wynne, Arkansas at 2:00 pm, viewing one hour prior to service. The burial will follow at Lewis Cemetery, Hickory Ridge
