Mr. Lester Charles Williams of Cordele, Georgia died Friday, July 5, 2019 at his residence.

The funeral service will be held Friday, July 12, 2019 at 3:30 PM in the chapel of the J. W. Williams Funeral Home in Cordele, Georgia.

The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.

Mr. Lester Charles Williams was born August 24, 1946 in Homerville, Clinch County, Georgia. “L. C.” as he was known to his family, was one of the 13 children born to Mr. Otis Williams and Mrs. Lois Dixon Williams.

He was educated in the public school system of Clinch County. He was a graduate of Clinch County High School.

In September of 1967, his family moved to Cordele, Georgia. The family united with the Gethsemane Baptist Church. He met the former Miss Wilhelmina Rogers and on June 23, 1969 they were united in Holy Matrimony.

After moving to Miami, Florida, “Pork Chop” as he was also called, began his employment with Dade County Solid Waste as a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was a loyal and dedicated employee and worked faithfully until his retirement. Upon returning to Cordele, L. C. drove trucks for Clary Logging Company.

Lester loved driving, he and Kitty would often drive from Miami to Cordele to visit their family and friends. He especially enjoyed grilling, no matter what time of the year it was. He was so good at driving the distance, he could just about tell you the exact time, give or take a few minutes, how long it would take him to get back home.

On Friday afternoon, July 5, 2019 he simply went to sleep and drifted away from this life to a place of perfect peace. Along with his with his parents, he is preceded in death by eleven of his siblings.
