The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.
The burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery in Americus, Georgia.
On January 25, 1931, the union of Mr. Robert David Laster and Mrs. Rosie Lee Mansfield Laster was blessed with a special gift. A beautiful baby girl, whom they names Katherine.
Born in Sumter County, Georgia, she received her early education from the public school system. Early in life she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and united with the Greater Cedar Spring Baptist Church. She served as a Deaconess and was also a member of the Kitchen Committee.
For many years, until retiring, she was employed by the Sumter County Board of Education in the Food Service Department. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Growing flowers, sewing and reading were also hobbies that she enjoyed as well. Family and the love of family meant so much to her. She valued and appreciated the many memories and special moments shared with her family.
On Sunday, November 10, 2019, a peaceful rest came and she transitioned from this life to life eternal. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Claude; her siblings, Mr. Arthur Laster, Mrs. Flora Monts, Mrs. Emma Hicks, Ms. Jessie M. Laster, Ms. Mary A. Laster, Mr. Robert Laster, and Mrs. Ollie M. Simpson.
