Mrs. Monica Joan Caldwell Hendren Richards, 74 of Covington, passed away on February 18, 2020 at her residence.

Joan was born August 9, 1945 to John Caldwell and Monica Lloyd. It was the end of World War II and John was in Okinawa. Joan grew up in Henning and married her high school sweetheart, Jimmy Roy Hendren. They had one son, John Paige Hendren. Joan graduated from UT-Martin Nursing School in its first nursing class. She was the nursing supervisor at the Tipton County Health Department for over 30 years. She was a member of the Covington Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, John Paige Hendren of Ripley; her grandchildren, Kyle Hendren and Shelby King (Brandon); her great-grandchildren, Paiton Hendren, Jayce Paige King, and Jessica Joy King; she leaves four sisters, Sherry Clifton of Chicago, Dianne Brown of Cape Girardeau, MO, Lynn Lee of Ripley, and Debbie Walker of Bogota; and one step-brother, Freddie Gause of Brownsville; and by her friend, Bob Overall. Mrs. Joan was preceded in death by her husbands, Jimmy Roy Hendren and Jim Richards; and by her parents, John Bell and Monica Lloyd Caldwell.

Visitation for Mrs. Joan will be held on Thursday night, February 20th, from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the Maley-Yarbrough Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21st, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery (Henning, TN) with Rev. Chuck Williams officiating.
