CHESTER, W. Va. — Laura L. “Lori” Cooper, 55 of Chester passed peacefully at the Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020, following an 18-month long battle with cancer.
A daughter of Juanita Waugh McCormick of Chester and the late Robert McCormick, Lori was born in East Liverpool on June 26, 1964.
A wonderful, loving soul, Lori gave selflessly of herself for others. She volunteered for several organizations, including the Allison Elementary PTA, even after her own children and grandchildren had moved on, and the Tomlinson Run State Park Foundation, and the foundation’s Saturday and Sunday breakfast at the park. A 1982 graduate of Oak Glen High School, Lori had attended the Chester First Christian Church. Also, she will be fondly remembered by her peers from her favorite hobby, the Circle of Friends Scrapbooking club.
Along with her father, Lori was preceded in death by her brother, Scotty McCormick.
On May 15, 1986, she married her life partner, Dwayne Cooper, and together they enjoyed 35 wonderful years together. She will be deeply missed by her children, Brittany (David) Polgar of New Cumberland, Dwayne Cooper II and his wife Tesla of Chester, and Robbie Cooper and his girlfriend, Morgan Swoager of Chester; and her brother, Michael McCormick of Chester. Lori leaves six precious grandchildren, Bryce, Paxton, Jordyn, Elias, Levi, and Thomas; and of course, her dog, Fleury, who she loved so much.
Friends are invited to visit with her family at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester on Saturday when they will be present from 3-8 p.m.
