Former Jefferson Parish council member Chris Roberts has died.
"It is with deep sympathy and great sadness that the family of Chris Roberts acknowledges that he passed away this evening after a long battle with depression," according to Roberts' family. "The family asks for your prayers and support during this difficult time. Please respect the families' privacy during this difficult time."
He was found Wednesday evening in a wooded area near the Plaquemines-Jefferson Parish line.
Foul play is not suspected.
Roberts resigned from the Jefferson Parish council in April.
