JOSHUA DEWAYNE REED
October 18, 1974 ~ February 12, 2020 (age 45)

Joshua Dewayne Reed was born on October 18, 1974, in Williamsburg, Virginia, son of the late Rosemary Reed and the late Douglas Meekins.

In 2005, Joshua confessed Christ as his personal savior, during his membership at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, in which he served faithfully. Joshua was a member of the Sons of Zion in Newport News, Virginia and he enjoyed singing and fellowshipping with the group as they ministered the word through song. After uniting with his wife Tijera in May of 2019, Joshua became a member of United Nations Church International - Fredericksburg.

To many, he was known as Big Josh and affectionately known as Dad, Pop, and PaPa to his loved ones. He was a gentle giant who was full of jokes and laughter and had a big heart for people. He was well known in the community after having worked in management at McDonald’s for 15 years. He had quickly become a customer’s favorite during his time at Harris Teeter. He could make a mean pizza!. At the time of his death, Joshua was a dedicated employee of Toano Contractors.

The Lord had a need for Josh and called him home on Wednesday night, February 12, 2020. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Lois Reed, and aunt, Darcella Reed. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories with his wife Tijera, his sons Lil Josh, Jakeme, Stanley, and Dewayne; his daughters Priscilla, Alexis, Olivia and Tangina (Kyle); his grandchildren Zaiden, Marley, Stanley Jr., Kaiden, Ja’Kiyah, Dellayah, Javayah, and Elijah; his dad Curtis Meekins Jr. (Valarie); his brothers Curtis and Jerry (Vernitra); his aunt Lorraine Hawkins and a host of other devoted aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A service celebrating Joshua's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2020, in Whiting's Chapel. Interment to follow in Williamsburg Memorial Park. Mr. Reed may be viewed from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
