He attended Central High School. William retired after 32 years on the Evansville Fire Department, achieving the rank of Captain. He enjoyed golf in his downtime.
William is survived by his beloved wife, Wyota (Chism) Dickinson; son, Rick Dickinson (Vicki) and Mike Dickinson (Jodi); grandchildren, Jason (Wendy), Nick, Natalie (Brian), Josh, and Andie (Matt); 6 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 5 adopted sons and their families; sisters, Tressa Strouse (Gene) and Norma Jean Rich; brothers, Steve Dickinson (Jeanne) and Glenn Dickinson.
William is preceded in death by his parents; son, William “Darrell” Dickinson, Jr., and grandsons, Christopher Dickinson and Steven Dickinson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Chaplain Randy Bechtel officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park with the Evansville Fire Department Honor Guard rendering Burial Rites. Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2020, and from 10:00 a,m. until service time, Saturday, February 22, 2020
