Funeral services for Derrick Dewayne Hawkins, 43, of Vidalia, who died Sunday, Feb.16, 2020, at Rapids Regional Hospital in Alexandria will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Melvin White officiating.

Burial will follow at the Vidalia City Cemetery under the direction of West Gate Funeral Home.

Mr. Hawkins was born May 17, 1976, in Houston, Mississippi, the son of Gladys Hawkins. He attended college and was employed as a security guard supervisor with Magnolia Bluff Casino and previously as a forklift operator with Fruit of the Loom. He was a member of Pilgrim Missionary Church where he served as a deacon. Derrick enjoyed football, softball, and shooting pool.

He was preceded in death by his mother; aunt, Pinky Willis; uncle, Bennie Hawkins and grandmother, Louella Hawkins.

Derrick leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Sharon Renay Warner Hawkins; son, Kenneth Warner; daughter, Jessica Warner; brothers, Joshua Hawkins and DeAundra Hawkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
