Mrs. Erica Shakella Mercer Perry of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Sunday, December 1, 2019 at the Tift Regional Hospital in Tifton, Georgia.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of the Friendship Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.
The burial will follow at Staley Memorial Garden in Americus, Georgia.
On Friday, October 13, 1978, a loving and caring spirit was welcomed to this world by Mr. Eldridge Mercer, Jr. and Mrs. Christine Davis Mercer. Born in Sumter County, Georgia, she was named Erica Shakella.
The early seeds of education were planted in her mind as she attended the public schools of Sumter County. A graduate of Sumter County High School, Erica continued her education at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College in Fitzgerald, Georgia.
Erica was a member of Shabach Prophetic Word International Ministries. She loved the Lord and enjoyed fellowship with the people of God.
It was always evident that Erica had love in her heart for all people. For 20 years, she was employed by Cato Fashions in Fitzgerald, Georgia. As the manager, she enjoyed engaging with her customers and fellow employees. Most recently she was employed by Sunnydale Service Center in Ocilla, Georgia as a Supportive Employment Coordinator.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. Tom Davis and Mrs. Fannie Davis; her paternal grandparents, Mr. Eldridge Mercer, Sr. and Mrs. Sarah Louise Mercer; her aunt, Mrs. Ozie Ann Rice and her uncle, Mr. Edward Mercer.
