Poppie was a cherished resident of Maryville, TN for 63 years. Born in Cullman, AL, on January 21st, 1926, he graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from Auburn. Post-graduation, he served in the Air Force during WWII. In 1950, he married Monty Quick. Poppie was employed by TVA for 35 years. Poppie served as an elder in the Maryville Church of Christ. He was an avid fisherman and also treasured time with his granddaughters, serving as a shining example of generosity and honesty. Poppie's warm and encouraging spirit knew no bounds, his kind heart touching all those who crossed his path. He will be deeply missed by many.
Poppie is preceded in death by his wife, Monty Arnold; brother, Wayne Arnold; son, Timothy Guy Arnold.
He is survived by his daughter, Melody Lidvall; seven granddaughters, Kendra, Seneca, Saba, Katie, Emily, Amy, Molly; two great-grandsons, Chase and Grant.
At Poppie's request, no formal services will be held.
If so moved, donations on his behalf may be sent to Dogwood Forest Retirement Home, 7955 Majors Road Cumming, GA 30041, where he joyfully resided during his final years.
