Obituary for Dorothy Acton
Mrs. Dorothy "Dottie" Acton, 89, of Seymour, passed away Monday, February 17, 2020 at home. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Marie Sullivan.
On June 28, 1952, Dottie married Donald Acton and they enjoyed 67 years together. Dottie worked at the shirt factory and retired from Plummer's Market in Waymansville. She also helped cater with her friend Patty Hercamp and worked in the kitchen at Lutheran Lake. She volunteered at Trinity Lutheran High School's resale shop, The Cougar's Den. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church Waymansville, where she was a former Sunday school and vacation Bible school teacher.
Dottie was a very family oriented person and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She played several musical instruments. She and Don enjoyed fishing trips to Canada with Carl and Lee Acton, playing Euchre and volleyball. She also enjoyed square dancing and painting landscapes. She enjoyed meeting friends for breakfast each week at Bob Evans Restaurant.
Dottie is survived by her husband, Don Acton; sons, Randy (Linda) Acton, Steven (Susan) Acton; grandchildren, Danielle (Steve) Green, Adrienne (Jereme) Able, Aaron (Heather) Acton, Chad (Deanna) Acton, Kelli (Ricky) Drane; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Lauramae) Sullivan as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Margie Sullivan Woodruff Hoffmeier.
Funeral services will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at St. Peter Lutheran Church Waymansville on Friday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Erik Sorenson officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery Waymansville.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church Waymansville from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
