Kay Katherine Barnes, age 77, of Bridgewater died Monday, February 17, 2020 at home with her family by her side. She was born March 8, 1942 in Saline, the daughter of the late Herman L. and Mildred (Walters) Happel.

Kay worked for many years in area restaurants as a waitress. She enjoyed doing embroidering and coloring. She loved watching Westerns, especially ones with John Wayne, the movie, Sharknado and her favorite game show Family Feud. Kay loved her children and grandchildren and cherished the time she had with them.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Lyn “Lucy” (Brad) Clark of Bridgewater; two sons, Norman “Shortie” Barnes, Jr. of Moulton, AL and Howard (Ashley) Barnes of Bridgewater; a sister, Carol (Marc) Stillman of San Ramos, CA; four grandchildren, Scott Clark, Christina Clark, Katlin Dotson and Gavin Barnes; and two great grandchildren, River Gorny and Colby Dotson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Mullins and two brothers, Barry Happel and Jim Happel.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 11 am – 1 pm at the Clinton Chapel of Handler Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice.
