Martin Jackson "Jack" Powell, age 93, of Aurora, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Aurora Nursing Center. He was born July 8, 1926 in Carthage, Missouri, the son of William Jerome "Roma" Powell and Decima Marie "Decie" Meares Powell. Jack was a 1945 graduate of Monett, Missouri High School and was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II. He worked for Juvenile Shoe Factory in Aurora and owned and operated the Powell Taxi Company in Aurora with his wife for several years. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Aurora.

On September 22, 1947, Jack married Stella Chloe Lawrence in Aurora, Missouri.

Jack is survived by Chloe, his wife of 72 years; one son, Garry Powell, and his wife, Patricia, of Aurora; one daughter, Sally Wood, and her husband, Harold, of Miller, Missouri; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Roma and Decie; son, Larry Wayne Powell; and brother, Norman L. Powell.

A graveside service, under the direction of Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home of Aurora. was held on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made payable to Compassus Hospice of Monett in care of the funeral home.
