Nina Rebecca (Alt) Sabo, age 104, formerly of Petersburg, WV passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center in Elkins, West Virginia.
She was born June 7, 1915 in Landes, West Virginia and was a daughter of the late David Clinton Alt and Virginia Florence “Jenny” (Kimble) Alt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sabo in 1995; six brothers, Grant Alt, Raymond Alt, Arch Alt, Harness Alt, Luther Alt and Pinkney Alt; three sisters, Dora VanMeter, Rhoda Ahern and Bertha Weese. Nina was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Nina is survived by one son, William W. “Billy” Sabo and wife Elizabeth “Betty” of Elkins, WV; one daughter, Carolyn Ann Sabo of Martinsburg, WV; four grandchildren, Mark (Kasey) Sabo of Virginia Beach, VA, Lisa (Curt) Shetler of Windber, PA, Pamela (Roger) Ayers of Martinsburg, WV, Christopher (Rebecca) Miller of Greencastle, PA; seven great grandchildren, Andrew Ayers, Alexander Ayers, Alivia Ayers, Lauren Miller, Tristan Bird, Daniel Miller and Nathan Miller; and several nieces and nephews.
Nina was a lifelong member of Bethel Church of the Brethren.
Nina’s family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 11:00 – 1:00 PM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg.
Funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Schaeffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Rotruck officiating. Burial will be in South Branch Valley Memorial Gardens in Petersburg, WV.
