Steven Gene Pierce, 65, Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 at his residence. A native of Carter County, he was the son of the late Billy Gene & Bernice Grace Ensor Pierce. Steven was a 1972 graduate of Unaka High School and 1978 graduate of East Tennessee State University with a degree in Surveying Technology. He was founder & operator of Iron Mountain Surveying for 30 years. He was a retired fireman with the Johnson City Fire Department after 29 years of service. He was an avid musician and outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, playing the guitar and gardening. Steven was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge # 238 and Carter Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years: Genia Peters Pierce. Two Children: Karen Pierce and special friend, Aaron Taylor, and Emily White & husband Bryan. One Grandson: Isaac White. A Sister: Donna Scofield & husband Don. Five Nieces & nephews: Hope, Jessie, Kate, Will and Zach.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Donald G. Scofield officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Blevins Cemetery with Pastor Don Brandon officiating. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Thursday will be: Bryan White, Ty LaRue, Brian Barnette, Jeff Ensor, Ron Davis, Allen Shelnutt and Aaron Taylor. The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to the Staff of Amedisys Hospice, the Staff of Johnson City Internal Medicine, and Dr. Jeff Hopland for the excellent care he received. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residenc
