Earl E. “Gene” Ervin, 85, of Chattanooga passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020.

He was born on December 5, 1934, in Cincinnati, OH. Gene graduated from Lakeview High School in Lakeview, GA.

Gene served our country in the US Army as an Army Specialist Third Class from Mar. 4 1955-Mar. 1, 1958. He worked for Miller Industry Machinist for 26 years. Gene played in the Industry League Softball with Earnest Holmes Wrecker from 1967-85.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard W. “Buck” and Katie G. (Parrish) Ervin, and his daughter, Rhonda J. Blair.

Survivors are his wife, Carolyn J.(Cornelison) Ervin; sons, Michael E. Ervin of East Ridge, TN, and Mark T. Ervin of Ooltewah, TN; 7 siblings, Willard, Bobby, Joanne, Benny, Yvonne, Wayne, and Faye; 4 grandchildren,

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Rd with Pastor Gary Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
