Actor, Composer. A pupil of Giacomo Rossini, he made his first stage appearance at the age of three and afterwards achieved considerable popularity as a vocalist and song composer. Among his more famous compositions were "A Life on the Ocean Wave' and 'O Woodman Spare That Tree'. In all, he composed some eight hundred songs.
