Son of the late Samuel Gordon, II, and Dorothy Ray Howard. He attended Lakeshore High School and graduated Atlanta Technical College as an electrician. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 613. He retired in 1986. He was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sandra Howard; daughters, Christi (Brad) Hoolahan, and Jessica (Mike) Kennedy; son, Josh Howard; grandchildren, Graham Scott, and Miles and Mallory Kennedy; his sister, Janet (Rickey) Adamson.
