She was born on November 4, 1934 in Brandonville to the late Raymond and Carrie Lorah.
Martha worked in Philadelphia for AT&T/Bell Telephone.
After marriage, she moved to Harrisburg and ran a state-run daycare.
Later, Martha was a professional wedding coordinator and was an active member to help start Tree of Life Lutheran Church.
She was a big baseball fan of the old Philadelphia Athletics in the 1950's. She and her cousin would take their vacation and visited every American League ballpark to see the A's play after they moved to Kansas City.
They became friends with many players including Roger Maris, Clete Boyer, Billy Martin, Mickey Mantle, and Vic Power.
Vic Power, who was a seven-time golden glove winner for first base and is listed in the Cooperstown, New York Hall of Fame, was one of her best friends.
Her biggest thrill came while attending a game in Boston, Vic hit a home run and instead of going into their dugout after crossing home plate he ran up the third base sideline to the area she was sitting, looked up at her in the stands, cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled " That was for you" and he pointed at her then ran back to their dugout.
Martha was preceded in death by her sisters: Marion Lorah, and Grace Petrey, and a brother, Harold Lorah.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William O. Parker; her daughter, Denise Kanelos and her husband Jim; her two sons Glenn Parker, Roger Parker and his wife Rhonda; and, five grandchildren: Alexa Kanelos, Elaina Kanelos, Avery Parker, Bryson Parker, and William Parker.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Tree of Life Lutheran Church, 1492 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg with Rev. Richard Geib officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday in the church.
Burial will be on Monday, March 02, 2020 at 10:00 AM.
