Lorna Trupp passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, NE. She was 98 years old.

Lorna was born on October 10, 1921 to Roy and Hazel (Bymer) Stewart at the family farm north of Culbertson, NE. She was one of 13 children.

On March 4, 1945 she married Robert “Bob” Wagner at Oberlin, Kansas. To this union three children were born, Michael, Patricia and Mary Beth. Bob passed away on September 30, 1963. On July 16, 1966 she married Raymond “Ray” Trupp at the First Congregation Church in McCook, adding to her family children, Sharon, James, Kathleen and Karen. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Lorna started her career in the food industry at the Hested’s lunch counter in McCook. She owned several restaurants in McCook, including Ed’s Grill, The Chief Steakhouse, The High Chaparral, and Larry’s Café. She worked hard and long hours serving her family and the community of McCook great food. Her family will always remember her wonderful fried chicken, “real” mashed potatoes, German Chocolate cake, biscuits and gravy and homemade noodles just to name a few. Her favorite sports to watch were baseball and football. In her early years she enjoyed going to dances, bowling and playing cards.

Ray and Lorna enjoyed sharing a game of pitch or pinochle with Lorna’s siblings and their spouses taking turns hosting in their homes. Another favorite activity was attending the horse races in Grand Island NE. They also loved traveling, taking trips to Washington State, California, Colorado and their favorite vacation spot, Las Vegas, where Ray passed away on December 13, 1987.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Roy and Hazel Stewart; husbands, Bob and Ray; son, Jim Trupp; son-in-law, Ira Zimmerman; infant granddaughter, Rebecca Sue Zimmerman; infant great grandson, Jude Jarding; brothers, Cecil, Don, Roy, Orville , Virgil and Wayne Stewart; sisters Martha Burns, Beulah Miles, Dorothy White, Joan Gillen and infant Atha.

Lorna is survived by her son, Michael Wagner of McCook; daughters, Patty Zimmerman of McCook, Mary (Jim) Carlson of Lincoln, NE, Sharon (Steve) Frimann of Stapleton, NE, Kathie (Dick) Cappel of McCook, and Karen (Maurice) Allen of Surprise, AZ; her sister, Edna VanFleet of McCook; 18 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
