Margie Shearer, a homemaker and a resident and native of Baton Rouge, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at her home. She was 84. Margie was a 1940 graduate of Baton Rouge High School and enjoyed cooking and family gatherings.

She is survived by her husband, Rex M. Shearer; two daughters, Dana McNeely of Jefferson and Betty Shearer of Geneva, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, John H. McNeely III and wife Cindee of Baton Rouge; and seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by husband of first marriage, John H. McNeely Jr.; parents, Leon and Georgie Chaney; three sisters, Leona Day, Audrey Summers and Lise Lovett; and a brother, Wilson R. Chaney Sr.
