Shirley Koehler Washburn, 81, of Springfield died on Monday, July 19, 2010, at St. John's Hospital.

She was born May 11, 1929, in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Fred L. and Alma G. Chapman Koehler.

Shirley was a 1950 graduate of Memorial School of Nursing and worked at Memorial Medical Center until 1971. She worked in Dubuque, IA at Xavier and Mercy Hospital until retirement.

Shirley was a born again Christian and a member of iWorship Center. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She accumulated a variety of friends throughout the years with her witty and friendly personality.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and four brothers.

She is survived by one son, Ted (Sherry) Washburn of Springfield; two daughters, Connie Washburn of Springfield and Phyllis Scott of Dubuque, IA; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010, at iWorship Center, 3200 Shaler Rd., Springfield with a variety of friends officiating.
