Hall of Fame Professional Golfer. Generally regarded as one of the all time greats in women's golf, she totaled 90 career wins as a professional, of which included the Ladies Open four-times (1958, 1960, 1961 and 1963). In 1963, she set a LPGA record with 13 wins. Born Mary Kathryn Wright. she was taught the sport at an early age by her father and at the age of seventeen, she won the USGA Girl's Championship (1952). She went on to study Psychology at Stanford University while participating on the women's golf team. She received Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year honors twice (1963 and 1964). She was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1976. She died from a heart attack.
