Alpheus Benjamin Beall was the son of David Beall and Mary Davis. He wa a farmer, cabinet maker and millwright. He was married twice. He first married Mary Ann Hill on 13 Jan 1820. She was the daughter of John Hill and Charlotte Brashears. To this union was born 12 children, 9 of which lived to adulthood: George Wesley P, Caroline who married John McNell, William Hill, Alfred, Lewis, Mary, who was the wife of William Wolvington, Grafton Asbury , Martha, who was the wife Dr James McGinnis, Minerva, who was married Moses Eastman .

His second wife was Elizabeth Smith whom he married on 19 Oct 1853 in Allegany County, Maryland. Three children were born to them: James H, Harrison S and Franklin Buchanan.

According to "History of Alleganey County, Maryland" By James Walter Thomas, Thomas John Chew Williams, "He is buried in the old Beall cemetery on Evitt's Creek east of Cumberland."
