Services for Kenneth Gordon Ayers, 70, of Thousand Palms, were held today at the Wiefels & Sons Chapel in Palm Springs. Ayers, a native of Murrieta, Okla.. died Saturday at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for U.S. government construction projects. Survivors include his wife, Katherine; three sons, Kenneth R. Ayers of Hesperia, Jack Ayers of Georgia and Michael Patterson of Mississippi; three daughters. Kandis Ayers of Ohio, Christine Stanley of Victorville and Regina Jimenez of New Mexico; and five brothers, three sisters, 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Burial will be at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City.
