Born in Roane County Tennessee on the family farm. The federal government purchased the land (along with 56,000 acres of other land) to build the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. His first job as a young teenager was as a surveyor on the construction site. This lab was part of the construction of the first atomic bomb. Married Rose Marie Kumazec and lived in Cleveland, Ohio for many years. Moved to Elyria, Ohio around 1970 where he remained until he passed away in his home.
Buried in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio with full military honors provided by The United States Army.
At the time of his death he had 10 siblings (4 surviving), 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
