Shirley June Roach 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 12, 2020. Graveside services will be at Fort Logan Cemetery on March 20, 2020 at 11:00 am. A celebration of life will follow at Indulge Bistro & Wine at South Glenn, 6955 S. York St. #406, Centennial, CO.
Shirley was born on September 13, 1932, in Kansas to Ralph and Hazel Barnes. Shirley married the love of her life John “Jack” W. Roach on Sept. 4, 1953 in Denver Colorado. From, this union they were blessed with three daughters Deonne, Noni, & Tammy. Shirley and Jack were married 44 years and lived their retirement dream of full time RVing for several years until Jack’s passing in 1998.
Shirley worked in credit unions her entire career helping people with their finances. She was part of the Colorado Credit Union movement and her career included working at Samsonite CU, Coors Porcelain CU and SD14 CU in Commerce City, where she retired in 1990 as President.
Shirley was very active in the Colorado State High School Rodeo Association volunteering her time as State Secretary for several years. She and Jack continued to stay active for years even after their daughters graduated.
Shirley loved to bowl, play golf, and watch her Denver Broncos, having season tickets from 1964 and attending two super bowls. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and watching her game shows Password, Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy being a few of her favorites.
Shirley sadly spent her last days battling Dementia and Alzheimer’s, we are grateful for the wonderful people that took care of her at Rocky Mountain Assisted Living in Wheatridge.
Shirley is survived by her three daughters Deonne Martinez (Jeff Cohen), Noni (Mike) Kobza, and Tammy Graves. Her six grandchildren, Kris Martinez, Tyler (Kayla) Martinez, Amanda Kobza, RJ. (Alisa) Kobza, Nathan (Marta) Graves and Erin Graves (Sasha Buanteo). Her sister Grethal (Bernie) Naas, her sister-in-law’s Wilma (Larry) Rozmiarek and Mary Beth (Ron) Jamison. Seven great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, sister Arlene Thompson, and son in law Alfred “Butch” Graves proceeded her in death.
