Richard A. McComas (Rick) died April 1, 2016, at the way too young age of 62 while relaxing at home in Kansas City, KS. Rick was born Nov. 29, 1953, in Kansas City, MO to Claud and Joanne McComas. Growing up he loved playing games with the neighborhood kids, baseball, long camping vacations with the Youngbergs and Sheltons while touring the country, target shooting, summers at the dude ranch in Colorado and was an avid square and round dancer with the Flying Saucers Exhibition Club. During his working years Rick started at Peterson Manufacturing, was a Design Draftsman at Marley Cooling Towers and finished up his working years at Top King Sun Roofs. He worked part time for years at Letko Cycles to support his lifelong passion for collecting and constantly tinkering on Vintage Motorcycles and dirt bike racing with the Chicken Ranch Motorcycle Club. He loved the camping trips to Colorado riding motorcycles on the trails and going to NASCAR races. And, if you wanted to talk sports, Rick was your go to guy. While Rick never got married or had kids, he was known as Uncle Small to his friends' kids who loved playing with him and was a proud uncle/great uncle to Shannon and Sophia. Rick was predeceased by parents, stepfather, Melvin Wagner and his grandparents. He is survived by his sister, Pam McComas Brillhart (Larry) of Warrenton, VA, nephew, Shannon C. Swanson (Maria) of Leesburg, VA, niece, Sophia C. Swanson, and step siblings, Mike Youngberg (brother and best friend), Vicky Youngberg-Bates, and Corey Youngberg, stepmother, Shirley McComas and other best friend, Gerry Vawter of Arizona. No funeral will be held but we hope you always remember the good times and continue to tell stories of your times with him. It was Rick's wishes that his cremated remains be taken to the mountains of Colorado - the place he always wanted to live. Arr.: Park Lawn Funeral Home, (816) 523-1234.

My note: Joanne Harrison McComas remarried 24 May 1969 in Jackson Co MO, Melvin E. Wagner.
