James Ernest Strange, Jr. "Jim" of Gulf Breeze, Florida died peacefully from natural causes on February 11, 2020 at the Beacon of Gulf Breeze, Florida.
Jim was born on December 1, 1926 in Charleston, South Carolina. He was raised both here as well as in Waycross, Georgia.
Jim was employed in the Aviation field as a pilot as well as with the FAA. He began his career as a proud member of the USMC. He was an avid lover of nature and a world traveler. He cherished his role as a beloved husband and father.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Joan Patricia Strange.
He is survived by his son, James Michael (Karen) of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Rowen (Anna) of Chicago, IL; son Alex (Luis) of Houston, TX and daughter Julie Oechsel (Craig) of Navarre, FL. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Matthew (Rachael); Brian and Lauren Oechsel as well as the recent addition to the family, newborn great-grandson James Matthew Oechsel of El Paso, TX.
Graveside military services will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, March 12,2020 at Barrancas National Cemetery aboard NAS Pensacola.
The escorted vehicle procession will depart from Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, Florida at 12:30 PM. Please join the procession to avoid delays with enhanced security at NAS Pensacola.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Rose Lawn Funeral Home of Gulf Breeze.
